'Our love runs cold. In the caverns of the night. I can lose myself. You I can't live without.'

Words are useless when trying to say anything about this. It`s such a beautiful piece, so deep, that keeps me amazed in silence. Yes. Silence. Listening to the soft whisper.. "You`re all that`s left to hold on to..", then hearing the sighs of the moon.

god, maybe i'm just more emotional today than usual. i keep almost crying when i look at yours and melocopter's work... i'm really touched.

the words and the outline of the figure are so poignant.

This is so touching, have to say it's not only sad but also endearing, one never knows who will be there to the ends of time...

Very sad picture. A welcome break from your other work. I think I prefer these.
Summ3rRain Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2004
it`s like a story, told by the moon, which is the only witness to this.. one feels like he`s got nothing in this life.. except her. she gives him hope and strength to go on. that`s what i feel when lookin at the picture..
thanks so much for sharing it.

I like this picture, but why have you submitted it 2 or 3 times?

I've only submitted it once. It shows up in your list every time I make a change to it, such as making it available for print

At first look, it seems like a simple child's drawing, nothing special. But if you look for some more, you'll notice the emotion behind it. This one is definitely good.

somet times all thats left to hold onto is memories, but sometimes thats enough...that was overly dramatic of me
darkcath Featured By Owner Nov 5, 2004
Faith.. there's something I so need to feel now..
I'm glad I found this work.. It's really simple, but with such a meaning..
Sad.. but maybe that's one of the reasons I love it so much..

I woke up this morning feeling exactly this way. All I had left of what was once a happy, passionate relationship is the memories. How long til they too fade to nothing?

In my head, because of how shiny the moon is in the picture and because I wondered for a second if it was the outline girl or the walking boy who had only a little left, I made up that it's the moon, whispering to the person out for a late-night walk "You're all that's left." You see, the mood goddess had to move back onto the moon because nobody here can be bothered to keep her on this planet, but she misses being here, so she tries her best to get people to notice her and care again, but the best she can do doesn't even have a shadow cast by her old self. She can't even hold on, because she can't reach that far all by herself. All she has are people who walk late at night and admire the moon in the only way they know her.

it is how it seems to other people. The boy is all alone, with only the afterimage of the girl still with him. Then my mind gets to work on why the boy would be so alone, and so wanting that particular girl. I'm trying to dream up a particular situation for him. Give me a minute. (minute. ok. got it.) (because it's the story my friend told tonight that she's writing into a comic book, kind of. I'm filling in the blanks, but it's her plotline.) A girl killed herself a year ago, and Boy, who is the girl's best friend, doesn't like his life, and her ghost lied to try to convince him the afterlife is the bestest place to be. (the girl is lonely and sad too, you see, because the afterlife in this particular story isn't as nice as it is in some of the stories.) Boy decided that on the anniversary of her death, he would die too and join her. He's figured out that she was lying when she told him how marvelous the next life is, but he doesn't like the life he has now, but it's still a really big step to be taking. The cliff is behind him. The girl doesn't want him to walk away from the cliff, but doesn't want to stop him from walking away from the cliff. He's more than half aware that she's in front of him, as he's more than half aware that she can't stop him and she can't push him. He has to take whatever the steps from here are.

Of the two, I find the second more sad, although I feel really bad for the moon goddess. Goddesses have more time to work with than people though, so things have a much greater chance of improving eventually for the mood goddess. Then again, if both of their lives end up sucking, at least the boy's doesn't suck as long...kind of....except that the afterlife isn't so friendly. But he'd be with the girl at least, and the moon would still be all alone, in the "both their lives sucked for as long as they lived" version. I hope it's not that version.

In conclusion, I really like the way the moonlight looks on the edge of the land, and the saddest part of the picture, for me, is that the girl doesn't get a shadow. possibly I'm silly. I hope the little stories I came up with weren't the worst thing ever. It could just be that the girl is somebody the boy usually talks to, and he's going on a walk out in the pretty moonlight, talking to a pretend verison of the girl. The title of the picture wouldn't really make sense then unless the boy didn't feel like he connected with the girl except when he went on walks and talked to her pretend self. The last story seems the best, because then he could get brave, talk to the girl in person like he talks to her in make believe, and live happily ever after. I love happily ever after.

ok. I'm done now.

this is something i can relate to more then anything else on earth, as of this point in my life...and she's still slipping away from me... this is a beautiful piece and red hill mining town is such a perfect song fitting the concept so well...beautiful lyrics as well... :favs:

i can't say anything constructive. so i will only smile. there is thought behind all your art... deep thought.

surfer-girl Featured By Owner Nov 4, 2004
i can relate to this pic alot right now, youre simplistic images always have so much meaning, and alot of the times reach the viewer on a more personal level. i like how you did this with some colour, and the shine on the moon looks really great.
DinAnor Featured By Owner Nov 4, 2004
I have felt how he feels so many times... I searched so hard for a way to express it in something more powerful... more tangible than just words... you have done it... *tears* amazing
Iwon1 Featured By Owner Nov 4, 2004
So much more colorful than normal, but not bad at all.

It's easier to hide your stamp, anyway--I'm glad it's not obnoxious.

There's an amount of irony in this, which is really quite great.

infra5 Featured By Owner Nov 4, 2004
I sometimes think that. I think you did a great job showing a complex feeling threw this drawing.
Galhad Featured By Owner Nov 4, 2004
I can't understand it very well... Is the guy saying that? Because if it's so, you can guess that his thought its just a fragile illusion: the girl is "immaterial" (dotted lines) so you cannot hold on to her...
Or is it just a wish he has?
